Hello, my name is Truong Huynh and I’m a 3D Artist.

Experienced in Web Design and used it to code my personal portfolio website. Throughout this process, I also used Illustrator and Photoshop in order to bring my vision onto WordPress. All the paintings, drawings, music and games on the website are my original creations.

Although having created my website, I’m more interested in Game Development. I took the Web Design course at George Mason University in order to better understand the logic behind coding. Through the Game Design curriculum, I’ve worked with Construct 3, Unity, and Unreal and bringing my vision or my colleagues’ vision into life is awfully rewarding. Being able to transport my 3D mesh creations from 3DS Max into these game engines after adding texture: animation, camera light (ambient, diffuse and specular), working with matrices, shadows, reflection, and refraction was a dream coming to fruition for me.

I wanted to learn everything that was Game Design related, so for all the collaborations with my colleagues – I was more than eager to do what everyone didn’t want to do, but also because I wanted to help the team. In doing so, I learned how to use Fruity Loops and Logic Pro X in order to create sound effects by using the synthesizer and its diverse modules: oscillator, serum synth, sine/square waves, filters, reverb – and was able to compose music that was fitting for a scene after learning music theory. The last frontier is programming and isn’t my strongest field, but I can indeed code. Quite organized and detail-oriented; I rarely make errors and know what even a small mistake can mean to a project. Oftentimes, I help the leading programmers come up with solutions when they are stuck.

Realizing that it’s unrealistic be excellent at every field within Game Development, I’m currently focused on 3D Modeling, Animation, and Digital Art. After some time, I was not satisfied with the pacing and overall outcome of my work via 3DS Max and Photoshop.

“There has to be a better way”, I thought to myself. During breaks from George Mason University, I investigated Zbrush and taught myself it in the summer of 2020, and Substance painter in Thanksgiving break of 2020. It was a treacherous experience as I cannot ask my professors or any of my peers for help but it’s also extremely rewarding because the pacing and outcome of my work increased exponentially.
